You cannot even sit down to dinner anymore without someone at the table being “tethered” to their phone. Social Media and technology has changed multiple facets of our everyday life.  What social Media has done in marketing and even the way we receive our local and national news is really quite amazing.

Rewind to 2013, several companies used some pretty clever social media tactics to gain attention. Personally, I think they really paid off. Here are two of my favorites from 2013:

Dove’s “Real Beauty Sketches”

The West Jet “Christmas Miracle” giveaway

Think about it.  Reputations of companies can be both made and ruined through social media. You can be painted as the good guy or the bad guy.  I have heard countless stories, good and bad, of personal experiences that get posted online and then reposted again and again creating a “viral” epidemic.

What started out as simple communication between people has redefined marketing and even the perception that I am leaving on my own network and personal connections.

So if the power of influence in your marketing brand is so impactful, I wonder,“how am I marketing myself as a job seeker?” Isn’t it the same thing? In the end we are talking about brand. So, what does your social media “brand” say about you?
